Scuba diver dies off Melbourne
(AAP) - A man has died after getting into trouble while scuba diving with friends off Melbourne's southeast.
The 55-year-old Prahran man was diving with a group of people near Mordialloc Pier when he signalled he was in trouble, about 10.40am (AEDT) on Saturday.
He lost consciousness after being helped out of the water.
The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and was later taken to the Monash Medical Clinic at Clayton in a critical condition.
The man died in hospital on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Search and rescue police will investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death and prepare a report for the coroner.
