Another asylum seeker boat intercepted

(AAP) - Another boat carrying suspected asylum seekers has been intercepted off Australia's northwest.
It was one of two vessels intercepted on Friday, and was carrying 23 passengers and two crew.
In a statement released on Saturday detailing the interception, Border Protection Command said ACV Botany Bay intercepted the boat southwest of Ashmore Island.
It was initially spotted by a Customs and Border Protection Dash-8 aircraft.
HMAS Armidale intercepted the other vessel, with 18 people on board, west of Christmas Island on Friday.
Both groups were being taken to Christmas Island for security, identity and health checks and to establish their reasons for travel.
It takes to eight the number of asylum-seeker vessels to arrive this year.
