Thai authorities visit Thai workers evacuated from Libya

BANGKOK, March 4 (TNA) - Thai authorities, including Secretary to Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, and Thai diplomats, have visited hundreds of Thai workers in Tunisia who have been evacuated from unrest-stricken Libya.
The Thai authorities said after visiting the Thai evacuees at a seaside hotel in Tunis provided by the Thai government as their temporary accommodation in Tunisia before returning home that the evacuated Thai workers appeared to be in good spirits, noting that they have already prepared two more hotels in Tunis for additional Thai nationals who are leaving Libya.
Chanvanond revealed that the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged all remaining Thai workers in Libya and private employment agents to report accurate information to Thai authorities concerned so that best evacuations and assistance can be provided for them.
Meanwhile, Thai Airways International (THAI) announced that the national flag carrier is providing more chartered flights for the Thai nationals flying between Tunisia and Dubai and Dubai and Bangkok, and that its flights on the Bangkok-Athens route from March 5-13 will be diverted to pick up the Thai nationals in Tunisia.
