Russia supreme justice signs agreement with Panama
PANAMA CITY, March 4 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's Supreme Justice
Vyacheslav Lebedev who toured several Latin American countries signed a
cooperation agreement with the Supreme Court of Panama and said "Latin
America displays major interest in our judiciary system."
"We talked about delegation exchanges and also informed each other
about events to be held in our countries," Lebedev told Tass on Thursday
after visiting Colombia, Ecuador, and Panama.
The Russian Supreme Court already has cooperation agreements with
Brazil, Argentina, and Peru and Lebedev said "such interaction is
constructive, creative, and constitutional and will yield good result."
He said Ecuador President Rafael Correa "displayed major interest in
the organization of the Russian judiciary."
"Although our countries differ the judiciary principles are the same
everywhere," Lebedev said adding law "becomes internationalized and free
of internal national constraint and isolation."
"We are all interested in making the judiciary completely independent,
fast enough and at the same time professional and unbiased," the supreme
justice said.
