Russia-chief strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan--PM

BISHKEK, March 3 (Itar-Tass) -- Kyrgyzstan regards Russia as its chief strategic partner, which gives us support in difficult times, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev said here on Thursday at the ceremony of turning over of automobiles and special equipment to the republic by the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations.
"We feel Russia's support. Today's event shows how close our two
countries are. A friend in need is a friend indeed. We value friendship with Russia. Everything happened in relations between our two countries.
Even today there are some forces, which are trying to drive a wedge in our relations, but our nation will not permit anything like that. I stress once again that Russia is our chief strategic partner," Atambayev said.
He reminded that the Russian Emergencies Ministry had turned over to Kyrgyzstan 25 million dollars worth of automobiles and equipment in 2010.
The first consignment of machinery and equipment from the Russian rescue workers came to Kyrgyzstan early this year. It included 27 automobiles and 11 rescue kits. Another 37 automobiles and 11 rescue kits to a total sum of three million dollars were turned over to Kyrgyzstan on Thursday.
Vladimir Puchkov, secretary of state of the Russian Emergencies
Ministry, spoke at the ceremony. He said that the Ministry would allocate 10 million dollars for housing construction and the development of infrastructure in the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan, and would help with the training of specialists.
