Turkmen annual gas supplies to Asia to reach 90 bln c m.
ASHGABAT, March 3 (Itar-Tass) -- Supplies of Turkmen gas to the Asian region's countries with account of the pipelines already operating in China and Iran and the implementation of the TAPI project will amount to more than 90 billion cubic meters a year, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan told participants in the conference Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2011 which opened in Singapore on Thursday. A total of 350 delegates from different countries of the world take part in it. The president's appeal was published in the Turkish press on Thursday.
The aim of holding the oil and gas forum in the biggest business and financial centre of South-East Asia, as the Turkmen president notes, is to further develop effective, mutually advantageous cooperation of Turkmenistan with this region, attract investments in the projects which are being implemented in the country, as well as introduce innovation technologies used in the world today.
Among the major international projects, the Turkmen president named the promising gas pipeline Turkmenistan-China which was put into operation in December 2009. "The volumes of supplies of Turkmen gas to Iran are dynamically increasing due to the expansion of the gas pipeline network between the two neighbouring countries. One more major international project - - the construction of the gas pipeline
Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI), which will make it
possible to export 33 billion cubic metres in several years already - - is being implemented at a rapid pace," the president said.
Due to its geopolitical, economic position, huge reserves of
hydrocarbon resources both on land and in the Turkmen sector of the
Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan enjoys high international authority as a
reliable and perspective partner," Berdymukhamedov stresses. As a result of Turkmen geologists' researches, the reserves of the biggest gas field Southern Yoloten-Osman are estimated at the level of 21 trillion cubic metres. "Today's growth of those who wish to buy Turkmen natural gas creates wide prospects for further strengthening of the national economy," the appeal says.
In future, Turkmenistan plans to hold similar oil and gas conferences in Europe and the United States. In May 2011, the second international Gas Congress of Turkmenistan will be held for the first time in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza" - - on the Caspian Sea coast. In November, Ashgabat will host the 16th international exhibition and scientific-practical conference Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2011.
