Censure debate set from March 9-12

BANGKOK, March 3 (TNA) - Thailand's government and opposition whips have agreed on a four-day censure debate from March 9-12 following by a vote on March 13.

Ten Cabinet members, including Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, will be grilled during the four-day no confidence debate. The opposition will have 40 hours to scrutinise the 10 targeted Cabinet members, who were accused of abusing power with unnecessary enforcement of special security law to restrict people's freedom and rights and corruption. Abhisit and other Cabinet members will have 20 hours overall to clarify.

The opposition Peua Thai Party has also sought impeachment of nine Cabinet members, including the Thai Democrat prime minister, for their alleged failure in performing their duties and corruption. (TNA)
