Identity of dead Thai in NZ verified

BANGKOK, March 3 (TNA) - New Zealand's Identification Board has confirmed that a body retrieved from a collapsed CTV building in Christchurch City is a Thai national, Haruthaya Luangsuraphisakul, and the board will then issue a death certificate for her.
Police Lieutenant General Jaramporn Suramanee, Chief of the Royal Thai Police's Forensic Science Office, reported the update on Thursday (March 3), saying that after the death certificate is issued, it will then be translated from English to Thai and the Thai Embassy to New Zealand can represent Haruthaya's relatives to bring her body back to Thailand. The whole process is expected to take a couple of days.
Haruthaya was one of six Thai nationals reportedly missing after a strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit New Zealand South Island's Christchurch City on February 22.
According to the senior Thai police officer, Thailand's forensic team is resorting to DNA testing to verify another body found under the same building who is anticipated to be the second Thai fatality from the strong tremor in New Zealand. (TNA)
