TWO MINING COMPANIES IN BENGKULU ENGAGED IN ILLEGAL MINING OPERATIONS
Bengkulu, Aug 20 (ANTARA) - Two coal mining companies in the protection forest in Taba Penanjung subdistrict, North Bengkulu regency, had been allegedly engaged in illegal mining activities as they have yet obtained a license for such operations.
The two companies are PT DMH and BS, two big private mining enterprises.
North Bengkulu police chief Ajunct Senior Commissioner Dadang Suwundo said on Wednesday that he has already asked the two companies for an operational license, but they failed to show such license.
Consequently the mining site had been closed since last week, until the two mining companies secured a license.
Branch Office Head of PT BS Bengkulu Made refused to comment on the matter, while an executive of PT DMH could not be reached for the same purpose.
