EXPRESS AIR MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING IN BIAK
Jayapura, Papua, Aug 20 (ANTARA) - An Express Air aircraft carrying 129 passengers made an emergeny landing at Biak's Frans Kaisepo airport, Papua, on Wednesday, police said.
Head of the Biak Numfor's district police Senior Adjunct Commissioner Kif Aminanto said according to reports he had received, the plane serving the Sorong-Makasar-Jakarta route developed trouble in its left wing after reaching an altitude of 10,000 feet above Sorong airport.
Due to bad weather, the emergency landing was shifted to Biak airport at 13:00 local time.
None of the passengers and crew was harmed in emergency landing and were transferred to another airplane in Jayapura, he said.
Meanwhile, the Express Air management in Jayapura refused to comment on the accident when contacted.
"Our superior, Ms Rahmawati is not in," said one of the airline's staffers.
