Developments of situation in Yemen discussed

SANA'A, March. 01 (Saba)- Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi met here on Tuesday ambassadors of African countries, Russia and
the U.S. , and the UN's Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator, accredited to Yemen.
At the meeting, al-Qirbi reviewed the latest developments at the national arena and efforts made by the political leadership and the government to start the dialogue according
to the Constitution and the law.
He dealt with the agreements between the ruling party and the opposition parties in light of the initiative of President Ali Abdullah Saleh during the joint meeting of Parliament
and the Shura Council in last month.
In this regard, al-Qirbi confirmed the keenness of the political leadership to put all national issues on the table of dialogue and to renounce the use of violence to achieve
political purposes.
President Saleh's initiative included the freezing of constitutional amendments, denying any intention to hereditary rule in Yemen, and calling on the quartet committee,
formed by the ruling General People's Congress (GPC) part and the opposition parties, to resume preparation for a comprehensive national dialogue.
Saleh also announced delaying the 27 April parliamentary elections and that he will not seek his re-election in 2013, saying "No to hereditary rule and no to life presidency".
