Youth, Tech, and Space Research conf to be held Wed

ST PETERSBURG, March 2 (Itar-Tass) - The stores of the country's space research technology is to be illustrated here at a conference on the theme of " Youth, Technology, and Space Research". The youth forum, which opens at the D.F. Ustinov Baltic State University of Technology "Voyenmekh" on Wednesday, is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the historic space flight of Yuri Gagarin.
Professor Mikhail Okhochinsky, academic secretary of the forum, has told Itar-Tass, "This event is expected to be unique by all parameters." He said, "The all-Russia meeting fills the niche of the North-Western region's seminars and conferences connected with space rocket and air technology".
Represnetatives of all aerospace institutions of higher learning, as well as young developers from more than 20 project design organizations of the industry connected with hi-tech products have confirmed their participation in the conference, Okhochinsky emphasized.
Okhochinsky specially menioned the fact that the conference will
involve specialists of the Energia space rocket corporation (the city of Korolyov), OAO Reshetnev satellite-aided information systems
(Zheleznogorsk), KBSM (special-purpose engineering designbureau), OAO
Arsenal design bureau, the Obukhovo and Klimov plants. About 70 reports have been selected for presentation. A book of proceedings, which will be published, contains more than120 articles and poster presentations.
A roundtable meeting on the theme of "50 years of manned cosmonautics. What will the future hold?" is to be held within the scope of the conference. Participants in the conference are to survey the Voyenmekh museum, receive awards for the best reports, and tour the Artillery Museum and the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics.
