Iran’s FM meets EU’s Ashton in Geneva
GENEVA, March 1 (MNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said in Geneva on Monday that Iran is ready to cooperate with other countries within the framework of international regulations.
Salehi made the remarks during a meeting with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on the sidelines of the 16th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council which opened on February 28 and runs until March 25.
The meeting was held at the request of Ashton.
Salehi said the Islamic Republic of Iran has been always seeking to cooperate with other countries within the framework of international regulations, but the cooperation would necessitate that the countries prove their good intention.
Ashton said, “We are exploring ways for cooperation with Iran and we must prepare the ground for it.”
The Islamic Republic of Iran is defending its right to access nuclear technology meant for peaceful purposes, she said, adding “efforts must be made to bring the situation back to normal.”
Salehi also held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov.
