Toyota Land Cruiser Prado to be assembled in Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK, March 1 (Itar-Tass) - One of the most popular off road
vehicles, Toyota's Land Cruiser Prado will be assembled in Vladivostok.
According to the press service of the Russian company Sollers, the
approximate rate of production will total 1,000 cars a month.
The car making joint venture of the Russian Sollers company and the Japanese Mitsui concern, called Sollers-Bussan, will be opened on the premises of the Russian automaker Sollers-Far East in Vladivostok. It will use the needed infrastructures, including the pier and track. The first car is expected to be assembled in spring 2012.
The Sollers-Far East plant in Vladivostok went operational on
December 29, 2009. It assembles off road vehicles SsangYong of various
models and modifications. About 13,000 cars of such models as Rexton,
Kyron, Action and Action Sports were produced in 2010. In the current year it plans to assemble 25,000 offroaders.
The Alliance Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ and Concern Mazda are also
seeking sites for car making facilities in Primorye. Mazda considers the possibility of building a new enterprise or operating the available industrial buildings and infrastructures in Primorye.
According to the concern's plans, the enterprise's annual output may total 30,000 cars and 700-1000 new jobs will be created.
The alliance Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ considers several variants of
launching the car making production in Valdivostok, Slavyanka, Ussuriisk and Arsenyev on the basis of existing industrial buildings and infrastructures.
