Japan's offroaders to be produced in Vladivostok
TOKYO, March 1 (Itar-Tass) - The giant of the Japanese and world car
industry, Toyota Corporation, has reached an agreement with the trading house Mitsui and the Russian company Sollers to set up a join venture in Vladivostok. The future JV will assemble off-road vehicles Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota's press service said on Tuesday.
The JV Sollers-Bussan will get down to work in spring 2012. The plant is expected to assemble a thousand cars a month from parts provided by Toyota, and the corporation's dealers will sell the assembled off-road vehicles in Russia.
The press service recalled that Toyota had become the first Japanese company to produce vehicles in Russia's Far East and said that the setting up of the joint venture "will allow to satisfy demands for off road vehicles in Russia and more flexibly respond to demands from the growing Russian market."
