Koreans need peace & compromise rather than confrontation

PYONGYANG, March 1 (Itar-Tass) - The Korean nation needs "peace and compromise decisions rather than confrontation and war". This main
conclusion is contained in an article, published on Tuesday by the leading North Korean newspaper Rodong Sinmun.
The newspaper demanded that Seoul and Washington should stop
provocative joint exercises Key Resolve and Condor, launched on Monday. It stresses that "tension is sharply whipped up, and the threat of warfare increases in the Korean Peninsula" over these large-scale exercises.
Events show, Rodong Sinmun continues, that South Korea joined the
tripartite military alliance with the US and Japan and continues the
policy of confrontation, "fully ignoring the DPRK's proposals to open a new stage of independent unification of the homeland through a peaceful dialogue and talks".
In the newspaper's opinion, "the entire Korean nation should now start resolute struggle for stopping the military manoeuvres, presenting a great danger for the DPRK and all North East Asia".
Rodong Sinmun also warned that "the people and army of socialist Korea are ready to inflict a retaliatory strike on warmongers so as to defend the country's security".
