Opposition Puea Thai Party unveils 300 candidates for next general election

BANGKOK, March 1 (TNA) - Thailand’s main opposition Puea Thai Party has unveiled 300 candidates for the next general election and expressed confidence it will win the majority of house seats.
The Puea Thai Party on Tuesday (March 1) organised a seminar for its representatives and candidates for the next general election. The party members learned about electoral rules and vote campaign policies. Over 300 candidates for the next election were introduced on the same occasion.
Puea Thai chairman General Chavalit Yongchaiyudh said the only solution to national problems was Puea Thai’s victory in the next general election so that it would have the majority house seats and the right to form the next government. He stressed the necessity to win although, he said, the Puea Thai Party might face some strange tactics in the next election.
Meanwhile, Puea Thai list MP Mingkwan Saengsuwan who heads the party’s censure debate team, together with other party members filed a censure motion against the prime minister and individual ministers. The motion was signed by 122 opposition members and filed with house speaker Chai Chidchob.
The Puea Thai delegation stated that the government failed in national administration and could not achieve its goals earlier announced to the parliament. Besides, it abused its authority and excessively exercised special laws in the way that infringed people’s rights and freedom. The Puea Thai Party also accused the government of practicing discrimination, being involved in corruption and failing to exercise financial disciplines to maintain economic stability.
Mr Mingkwan said the censure was signed by 118 Puea Thai MPs, three Pracharaj Party MPs and one Puea Pandin Party MP. They want four days for their debate and a vote on the following day. That will take a total of five days for the upcoming no-confidence debate. (TNA)
