Thai government proceeds with national reform plan

BANGKOK, March 1 (TNA) - The Thai government proceeds with its national reform plan and is following up measures to relieve people’s costs of living.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Tuesday chaired a national reform meeting at Government House, attended by the ministers of finance, agriculture and cooperatives and energy as well as concerned authorities.
The session acknowledged the progress of the Pracha Wiwat (People’s Agenda) welfare scheme. The implementation has made good progress including the expansion of social security to cover all Thai people. Expanded subscription to social security for people in the informal economy will begin on April 30.
The registration of taxi motorcyclists has been done for over 80,000 people. In the meantime, the government has approved 275 additional locations for street vendors in 39 districts.
Besides, the government has announced to freeze the prices of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas for four more months. (TNA)
