Karachai-Cherkessia parliament to vote on new republic head

CHERKESSK, March 1 (Itar-Tass) -- The People's Assembly (parliament)
of the Russian North Caucasian republic of Karachai-Cherkessia on Tuesday will vote on the Russian president's nominee for the post of the head of republic, Rashid Temrezov.
On February 26, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev appointed Rashid
Temrezov acting head of the Republic of Karachai-Cherkessia for the period until a new head of the republic takes office.
The previous head of Karachai-Cherkessia, Boris Ebzeyev, who had been in office since 2008, was sacked by Medvedev on the same day "in
connection with Ebzeyev's statement on early termination of his office
term," as the Kremlin press service put it.
Also on February 26, Russian presidential envoy in the North Caucasian Federal District Alexander Khloponin presented Rashid Temrezov to members of the republic's parliament and government.
Karachai by origin, Rashid Temrezov was born in the city of Cherkessk on March 14, 1976. He graduated from Moscow's Open Social University and worked in the republic as director of the Karachai-Cherkessian government's construction department. A year ago, he headed the republic's department for federal roads. He is a member of the republic's parliament, a member of the United Russia party and is on the Russian presidential staff reserve list. He is married and has three children.
