Yemen participates in EITI Global Conference SANA'A
Feb. 28 (Saba) - Yemen is participating in the 5th Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Global Conference
to take place in Paris 01 - 03 March 2011.
Upon his departure, Oil and Minerals Minister Amir Salem Aidaroos said Yemen is to deliver a speech in the conference reviewing reports presented in the past three years related to the quantities of oil extracted and the process of export.
Yemen will announce its official accession to the EITI in the coming few weeks, he said, adding the cabinet recently has issued a decision to establish a general secretariat for transparency council.
The minister made clear that this step aims to ensure transparency and the right of the Yemeni society to get acquainted with the country's wealth.
The EITI would be attended by a number of countries' presidents and oil ministers from the participated countries.
