Aircraft still missing in Torres Strait

Police are continuing to search for a light plane that disappeared on a flight from Cairns to Horn Island in the Torres Strait.
Their land search on Monday took in Horn Island, Prince of Wales Island and the Northern Peninsula.
The aircraft, flown by a 37-year-old pilot from Yorkeys Knob, north of Cairns, failed to arrive at its destination on Thursday morning.
Extensive air, land and sea searches have been conducted in the area since then but have failed to find any sign of the light aircraft.
Police believe the pilot was the only person on board.
