Third group of over 100 Thai workers return from Libya

BANGKOK, Feb 28 (TNA) - The third group of 105 Thai workers evacuated from Libya was set to arrive at Thailand’s main Suvarnabhumi International Airport on the MS960 flight of EgyptAir at about Monday noon (Feb 28).
Jirasak Sukhonthachart, Director-general of the Thai Ministry of Labour's Department of Employment, said that the Thai construction workers are clients of three private employment agents, including PPP Construction (Thailand), Man-Pro Engineering and Construction, and Spectrum Overseas Enterprise.
Jirasak revealed, however, that the arrival of other 31 Thai workers who were earlier scheduled to land on the TG974 flight of Thai Airways International (THAI) Monday morning has been postponed indefinitely.
So far, over 3,700 Thai nationals, all are workers, have been evacuated from Libya to other third countries, namely Egypt, Malta, Tunisia and Greece. They are among about 8,700 Thai workers who need immediate evacuation, as they stay in clash-plagued areas in the North African nation.
According to official figures, the number of stranded Thai workers who have left Libya has totaled some 18,000. Of the evacuated workers, 539 people have returned to Thailand and others are waiting for their flights. (TNA)
