Doha, February 27 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has called on the European countries
To take quick and clear positions to help the peoples of the region who are calling for social justice and freedom of expression and not to wait until seeing the balance tilt and to decide their stance later.
Addressing a joint press conference with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Wulff, HH the Emir said "We want from Europe a clear position from the outset. They should not wait until the balance tilts in favor of one of the parties and then make public their positions .. We want quick positions from them so that Arab peoples will feel that Europe will stand with the dictatorships, if they managed to contain the situation."
HH the Emir called on Europe that take a clear position to help the peoples calling for justice, freedom of expression and social justice .. and not to stand with "hydrocarbon" dictatorships for economic interests .. He said the important issue are the peoples and how can they benefit from their wealths.
HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani added "Europe must support the rights of peoples aspiring for freedom, justice and for taking advantage of their economies and wealths that they cannot benefit from them under dictatorships."
He stressed that the illegal immigration to Europe was due to the worsening living conditions because of dictatorships spreading across the Middle East .. HH the Emir, however, said change is coming and will be in the interests of Arab peoples .. He said: "Fortunately, that change is coming and will be in the interests of Arab peoples, adding that peoples should find quick solutions to problems."
On the possibility of launching an Arab initiative regarding the situation in Libya, HH the Emir said "I cannot assert that any Arab initiative will be successful in the shadow of the deteriorating Arab situation over the last thirty years, adding " the situation in Libya concerns the Libyan people and they should find a way to stem the bloodshed, and I hope Colonel Gaddafi would help in resolving this matter as soon as possible because this will help the prevention of further blood-letting. "
In response to a question on what is required now from the international community regarding the situation in Libya, HH the Emir stressed on the need to deliver humanitarian aid to Libya as soon as possible . He said "with respect to Libya and all Arab countries in which changes took place humanitarian and medical aid should be delivered to them. children should not be left without milk. "
HH the Emir called for finding ways to deliver aid through sea ports and airports. "I think that Europe can control the airspace and its aircraft can go to Libya to provide humanitarian aid."
