WORLD WAR II BOMB EXPLODES, KILLING INDIAN WORKER

KUALA SELANGOR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- A World War II bomb exploded as it was being cut by an Indian worker of a scrap metal shop who thought it was just scrap metal, killing him and badly injuring a fellow Bangladeshi worker in Jeram near here Tuesday.

The explosion also sparked a fire which damaged a lorry belonging to the owner of the shop and a workers' quarters, Kuala Selangor police chief SuptIbrahim Chin said. Firemen put out the blaze.

He said the bomb was sold to the shop by a man who had also thought it wasscrap metal.

When the Indian worker attempted to cut the "scrap metal", it exploded andinjured him and the Bangladeshi.

People nearby who heard the explosion rushed both the workers to the Sungai Buloh Hospital but the Indian worker died along the way, he said, adding thatthe Bangladeshi was in intensive care.
