Another asylum seeker boat intercepted
Border Protection Command has intercepted another asylum-seeker boat.
Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor said the vessel was initially detected by a Dash-8 surveillance aircraft and then intercepted by the Australian Customs Vessel Botany Bay north of Ashmore Islands on Saturday morning.
Initial indications suggest there are 102 passengers and three crew on board, he said.
"The group will be transferred to Christmas Island where they will undergo security, identity and health checks and their reasons for travel will be established," he said in a statement.
