Libya's delegates to League of Arab States resign
CAIRO, February 26 (Itar-Tass) -- The members of the Libyan delegation to the League of Arab States have announced their resignation. This follows from a joint statement by all eleven members of the delegation, released on Friday.
The diplomats said their decision was due to coercive measures that
the country's leader Muammar Gaddafi was using to suppress popular unrest.
According to the statement, all eleven members of the delegation decided
to join the opposition demanding the immediate resignation of Gaddafi. The head of Libya's delegation to the Arab League left his post last week.
Earlier, the Arab League decided to suspend the participation of
governmental delegations from Libya in its activities and organizations,
saying that "this measure will remain in force until the authorities in
Tripoli agree to meet the demands of the Libyan people."
