Trend's ‘When Words Freeze’ screened in Kiev
Ukraine, Kiev, Feb.25 / Trend /
Kiev opened the art exhibition "Khojaly’s Cry" this week.
During the event, visitors studied the work of Ukrainian Artists Union member Rasim Seydimov. The exhibition was organized as a joint initiative of the Youth Forum of the Organization of Islamic Conference, the Union of Azerbaijani Youth in Ukraine and the Congress of Ukraine's Azerbaijanis with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine.
The exhibition participants first watched the documentary, "When Words Freeze," which was prepared by the Trend International News Agency.
Addressing the meeting, the head of the Union of Azerbaijani Youth in Ukraine's Culture and Information Department, Ilham Allahverdiyev, spoke about the role such films and exhibitions play in bringing information about Armenian vandalism to the world's attention.
Diaspora representatives Ilgar Abbasov and Akif Gulahmadov, calling upon international organizations and the world community to make a legal assessment of the Khojaly genocide on behalf of the Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis, stressed the importance of Armenia bearing responsibility for the tragic page in world history.
In his speech, Azerbaijani MP Musa Gasimli said the international community should not remain indifferent to the occupation policy and genocide pursued by the Armenians against the Azerbaijani people.
"Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan also took part in the genocide policy against Azerbaijanis. Unfortunately, international organizations turn a blind eye to this issue and lead a double policy," he said.
Institute of Philosophy Director at the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences Ilham Mammadzade said during his speech that although 19 years that have passed since the genocide, international organizations and the international community have yet to give a political and legal assessment of the tragedy, which is a historical injustice.
"The Khojaly tragedy is a tragedy not only for 50 million Azerbaijanis, but also for the entire world. I think that by turning a blind eye to this terrible genocide, the international community is taking equal responsibility for the committing of this tragedy," he said.
According to the head of the Union of Azerbaijani Youth in Ukraine, Anar Tahirov, a series of events will be held within the "Justice for Khojaly" campaign in the regions and cities of Ukraine.
"I believe that the events held upon the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Vice President Leyla Aliyeva within the campaign will play a exclusive role in bringing information about Armenian vandalism to the world's attention. Young people should be particularly active in this campaign, and fulfil their civic duty," he said.
Director of the Fund for Assistance to Art Development in Ukraine Yuri Krulikovsky said viewers directly witness the atrocities committed by the Armenians once again after watching the documentary and studying the artwork at the exhibition.
Speaking at the event, Trend Deputy Director Emil Huseynli said the international community had no information about Nagorno Karabakh 10 years ago, but as a result of the purposeful policy of the Azerbaijani government, it must recognize the policy of occupation and genocide carried out by Armenians against the Azerbaijani people.
According to him, the Armenian people, building their lives on fiction and lies, must understand that they will be unmasked, as Azerbaijani youth stand today, healthy and proud, on the path toward integration into the cultural and political life of world states.
