Moscow may learn from Seoul experience in traffic organization
SEOUL, February 25 (Itar-Tass) - The Moscow city government sees South Korea's Seoul as the best partner to exchange experience in the sphere of transport, a deputy mayor of Moscow said on Friday.
The Moscow government has been studying world experiences in this
sphere for a long time and has come to the conclusion that it is Seoul
that resembles Moscow in terms of the transport situation, the area, and the number of residents, Nikolay Lyamov, who addresses transport and road construction issues in the Moscow government, told journalists. Lyamov is a member of a visiting delegation of the Moscow city government led by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
According to Lyamov, over the two-day stay in the South Korean capital members of the delegation had a chance to see that Soul's transport program elaborated in 2005 is being implemented quite efficiently.
"In Moscow, we are about to begin urgent steps and, as a matter of
fact, the work we plan for 2011-2012 and for the next five years is very much the same as that being done here," he said. "We had a chance to see for ourselves that our program will be viable, that the way we have chosen, including a smart traffic regulation, and separate traffic lanes for municipal transport, is quite acceptable for our city."
In his words, the delegation is tasked to study Soul's experience, to learn by its mistakes in order not to make such in Moscow.
He praised the TOPIS passenger transport regulation centre the
delegation had visited in Seoul. In this connection he said a similar
centre will be set up in Moscow. "Now we are preparing to hold a tender to create a similar system," he said.
