Toyota recall has no impact in Aust
Toyota and Lexus cars sold in Australia are not affected by a recall of more than two million vehicles by the Japanese-based maker.
The Toyota Motor Corporation said the recall involved floor mats or carpets that could jam accelerator pedals.
It applied to some Lexus GS, RX and FLX models as well as Toyota's Highlander, 4 Runner and RAV4 vehicles.
But Australian officials said the recalls only affected overseas left-hand-drive vehicles.
"The floor carpet cover, plastic pad and all weather floor mat involved in these recall campaigns were specifically designed and manufactured for left-hand-drive vehicles and are not sold in Australia," the company said in a statement.
"Toyota Australia and Lexus Australia have inspected local vehicles and confirmed that the conditions do not affect right-hand-drive vehicles sold in Australia."
