DRAFT PROGRAMS BACKED FOR DEVELOPMENT OF MINERAL SECTOR

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The cabinet meeting held Wednesday discussed and backed in principle a state policy on developing the sector of mineral resources and a national program on developing the mineral resource sector until 2012. The issues will be discussed at the State Great Khural.
The main objectives of the state policy on development of mineral resources sector are to develop responsible and transparent mining by studying the geological formation in several phases and enriching the mineral funds, to improve the capability of Mongolian economics by establishing an industrial complex of manufacturing value-added and final products, to ensure basic interests of the nation, to improve the people's livelihood, to keep the ecological stability, and to realize the goals of sustainable development.
In frames of the policy, goals will be implemented for improving competitiveness of the mineral resource sphere of Mongolia at regional and international arenas, attracting domestic and external investments, supporting private investments, developing national productions, and creating favourable legal and financial environment for establishing a complex to produce final and value-added products and pure metals.
