Thai PM concerned over six missing Thais' fate after New Zealand's quake

BANGKOK, Feb 24 (TNA) - In the wake of a strongest 6.3-magnitude earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, yesterday, Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Thursday (Feb 24) that some six Thai people were reportedly missing and there was a witness who saw a Thai nurse entering a building which later collapsed and she has not yet been reached so far.

The Thai premier conceded that he is concerned over the fate of the six missing Thai people and has kept following up searches by rescue teams.

Earlier, local media quoted Thani Thongphakdi, Director-General of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Information, who is also the ministry's spokesman, as saying that all Thai people in New Zealand were safe. (TNA)
