Bangladesh, Iran share (Individuals) award for women contribution to development
that the Selection Committee for the 1429H (2008) IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development has unanimously awarded this year’s IDB Prize (Individuals) of US$ 50,000 to both Mrs. Rona Khan of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Mrs. Saida Quds of theIslamic Republic of Iran.
This is in recognition of their outstanding efforts to improvehealth care for women.
The Selection Committee is composed of prominent women personalitiesnot part of the IDB staff.
The Committee has also awarded this year’s IDB Prize (Institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations) of US$ 100,000 to both the Orphan Care Society of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Afia Society forAgricultural Development and Health Care of the Republic of Sudan.
This is in recognition of their role and efforts in maternal careprogrammes, according to a press release of the IDB.
