Zebari, US Congressional delegation discuss Iraq's political situation

Baghdad (NINA) – Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, discussed with a US Congressional delegation, headed by Senator Edison Jo Wilson, the political situation in Iraq.

A statement issued on Tuesday, Feb. 22, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Zebari explained to the visiting delegation the nature of political, security and economic developments Iraq is going through, and the horizon of cooperation between Iraq and the United States, as well as the future relations between them when American forces withdraw from Iraq by the end of 2011.

The statement pointed out that the Congressional delegation members expressed satisfaction with positive developments Iraq has witnessed in its democratic experience and in combating terrorism, as well as consolidating security; praising the Iraqis' braveness and strong will in standing up to terrorism.

They expressed readiness to work along side other members of the Congress to provide required support to continue cooperation between Iraq and the United States to enable Iraq overcome future challenges.
