PRESIDENT MEETS LOCAL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj worked February 19 in Arkhangai aimag. He has got acquainted with activities of the School of Teacher at the State University of Education and met students and teachers.
The President has given a report to the students and teachers on investments in the higher education, scholarship and allowance for students and a concept of the laws on social guarantee for them. “We are facing new opportunities to comprehensively tackle educational matters by implementing the largest mining projects. There is a lot of works and necessities to improve the quality of education. This is matter not only of the educational sphere but also for social life,” the President has stressed, and emphasized an importance to develop all fields through the educational sector.
Ts.Elbegdorj has said that he considers as necessity to innovate the higher educational sector by financing it and to improve its quality in accordance with proposals from experts and people. He has added that he has drawn up a related draft law, and submitted it to the State Great Khural. The President also has put forward his proposal to sponsor tuition fees for students in accord with international standards. Moreover, the draft law initiated by him reflected a provision about the allowance for students. In accordance with it, students can increase size of their allowances depending on professions, successes and activeness of studying.
In response, the aimag's teachers have told about urgent problems faced by local educational organizations such as dormitories for students, school buildings and providing the schools with electronic facilities. They have appreciated the draft law initiated by the President, and then shared their views on improvement of the educational sector.
