U.S AMBASSADOR'S SPOUSE VISITS REHABILITATION CENTER

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A Public Affairs Officer Marissa Maurer; spouse of the U.S. Ambassadors Fiona Addleton; and an Information Assistant Tina Puntsag visited Thursday the Tahilt Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled in Tov Aimag.
The Director of the Center Ms. Enkhtuya gave a tour of the center and talked about the treatments that the disabled children and adults receive in the center throughout the year. She opened the rehabilitation center 10 years ago with the support of her family. According to her, a total of 500 people are treated in the center annually. The government is providing 50 million togrogs this year to improve the building and equipment in the center.
The group also visited the Universal Progress Center for Independent Living (CIL) opened in March 2010 near the new Trauma Hospital in Bayangol district. The Director of CIL Ch. Undrakhbayar gave a briefing on the objectives and services that the center provides. Their main objective is to encorage people with disabilities and assist them in becoming equal members of the society by spreading the idea of independent living, advocating for rights and creating a friendly environment for people with disabilities.
