S.BATBOLD STARTS OFFICIAL VISIT TO SINGAPORE
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister of Mongolia S.Batbold started Thursday an official visit to the Republic of Singapore at an invitation of his counterpart Lee Hsien Loong. This is the first official visit paid by the Mongolian Premier since 2001.
A ceremony of welcoming the Mongolian Prime Minister took place on the square of Istana Palace, and the national anthems of the countries. After the ceremony, the Prime Ministers have held negotiations.
Beginning the negotiations, the Mongolia's Premier has said that the bilateral cooperation in trade and economics has been intensifying for last decade, and then expressed a willingness to widen the economic cooperation. He has added that the countries have an opportunity to increase size of investments and trade between the countries. Mentioning that the countries are possible to develop collaboration in the fields of mining, infrastructure, industry, banking and finance, Mr. Batbold has pointed out that Mongolia has begun great works to intensify the economic development by putting its mineral resources into economic circulation. “Mongolian government has been welcoming foreign as well as domestic investors and the private sector to the biggest construction works of energy, infrastructure and industry, and supports joint investments for these works. Singapore is able to cooperate with Mongolia in the direction,” Mr. Batbold has stressed, and added Mongolia wants to cooperate with Singapore in the energy sector, for example, in drawing up a technical and economic justification for a thermal power station and factories of processing and enriching copper concentrate to be erected in Gobi region.
The Premier S.Batbold has said that the government is facing a new challenge to improve living environment for the population and to provide the people with apartment, and expressed a willingness to study experiences of Singapore in urban development and to collaborate in realizing the “100 thousand apartments” project. He also has said Mongolia wants to study experiences of Singapore to introduce standards of Cambridge, to receive technical assistance, and to welcome teachers and professionals.
In turn, the Singaporean Prime Minister has thanked his counterpart of Mongolia for paying an official visit, and expressed satisfaction with this meeting. He has emphasized that Mongolia is on the edge of its great development, and pointed out that Singaporean delegation had a good impression about Mongolia when they participated in the annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum held in Ulaanbaatar.
Mr. Lee hoped that the Mongolian Premier's visit will significantly contribute to bringing the bilateral relations and cooperation into a new level, and stated that Singapore is ready to share its experiences with Mongolia in accordance with proposals of S.Batbold.
In frames of the visit, the sides have expressed their willingness to pay a great attention to implementation of the above mentioned works, and then emphasized an importance of role of the Mongolian Embassy in Singapore.
