MONASH OFFERING AUSSIES A$6,000 STUDY PACKAGE IN MALAYSIA

MELBOURNE, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Monash University here is offering students packages worth about A$6,000 (A$1=RM2.9) to study at its Malaysian campus.

Up to 60 Monash students will receive free return flights, free accommodation, and up to A$3,500 cash to cover expenses to study at theuniversity's campus at Sunway in Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy vice-chancellor of education Professor Adam Shoemaker said the A$360,000 initiative recognised the costs of studying overseas, but also thevalue offshore studying could bring.

"We don't believe that Australia will prosper by waiting for the world tocome to us.

"So, we have developed one of the most attractive exchange packages in the world to encourage our students to complete part of their degree offshore," saidShoemaker.

Monash's campus in Sunway was opened last year at a cost of A$80million.

Among the courses it offers are science, humanities, business andengineering.
