Thai Deputy PM urges Cambodia to fellow UNSC resolution

BANGKOK, Feb 18 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has declined to comment on Cambodia’s request to submit their border demarcation dispute to the World Court, but called for Cambodia to follow the resolution proposed by the United Nations Security Council, urging that Thailand and Cambodia to resolve the conflict through negotiation.

Suthep refused to give further comments on the move by Cambodia, citing he did not wish to exacerbate the situation by challenging Cambodia’s stance.

Regarding the two Thai detainees still in Pray Sor Prison on espionage charges, Suthep said the government will do its utmost to help the two even though he admitted that there are difficulties faced during the tense situation.

In a related development, the situation remains normal in Si Sa Ket province, with villagers engaging in making merit and giving alms, amid tight security. (TNA)
