PROGRAM TO BE APPROVED ON PRTECTION FROM DISASTERS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The cabinet has discussed a draft parliamentary resolution on approval of a state policy and program on protection from disasters, and decided to submit it to the State Great Khural.
Experts say that state management of preventing disasters and measure of rescuing, abolishing aftermath and rehabilitation works is developing in its first stage. Mongolia does not have enough man power resources yet, and is suffering shortage of rescuing techniques and a system of informing disaster aftermaths. Thus, it is time to design a state policy and to implement a related program in order to attract participation of NGOs, the private sector and citizens in activities of protecting from disasters.
When the parliamentary resolution is approved, a policy document will be drawn up for reducing disaster hazards and for ensuring the country's security and sustainable development. This document will be an important factor to protect population, livestock, properties and environment from disasters, to take prevention measures, to improve capability of rescuing and abolishing aftermaths, to strengthen social development and progress, and to reduce poverty. It is expected that living condition of people will be improved thanks to the program. The measure of protecting from disasters will be developed based on participation of state organizations, NGOs, the private sector and the people.
