Authorities promote exports of Thailand-branded lifestyle-products

BANGKOK, Feb 17 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Commerce has launched a project on the development of creative skills and business potential of Thailand’s lifestyle products--aimed to further promote and boost competitiveness of local producers of the Thai lifestyle products, mostly are small and medium-sized entreprises (SMEs), and to uphold Thailand-branded lifestyle products on the world stage.

There are over one million entrepreneurs in Thailand's high potential lifestyle goods production sector, from its upstream to downstream business chains, largely SMEs, which have become a major force to boost the country's economic growth and development with total trade of Thai lifestyle products last year alone exceeding three billion US dollars, or about 95 billion baht, a 16.55 per cent growth from the previous year.

Thailand’s main export markets for lifestyle products include the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, the Netherland, Vietnam, India and Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the Thai Ministry of Commerce's Department of Export Promotion, in collaboration with the Thai Gem & Jewelry Traders Association, will organise the 47th Bangkok Gems And Jewelry Fair at Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok from February 25-March 1 to particularly promote Thai sapphire this year, as traders from all over the world will be welcomed for their visits and business negotiations at the one-week event.

Thailand's exports of gems and jewelry reached 11.65 billion US dollars, or 367 billion baht, last year, a 19.3 per cent year-on-year growth. The Thai Ministry of Commerce projected that Thailand's exports of gems and jewelry will further expand by 10-15 per cent this year, prompting the ministry to set its target for the country's total export at about 210 billion US dollars, or a year-on-year growth of at least 10 per cent.
