Turkish company designs "beep-free belt" for metal detectors

ADANA (A.A) - 16.02.2011 - A Turkish company has designed a "beep-free belt" that does not set off the alarms on metal detectors.
Turkish firm Suvari Textile, which has recently obtained an international patent for manufacturing the "beep-free belt", has also signed a franchise agreement with a U.S. company to sell the product in USA.
Speaking to AA on the latest innovation, Suvari's chairperson Ahmet Coskun said Wednesday his company's R&D team had worked on the design of the non-beeping belt for almost 3.5 years.
Coskun said the belt would enable frequent travellers from passing through security-checks more easily.
Commenting on his company's recent cooperation with a U.S. firm, Coskun noted that the product was being manufactured according to the needs of the U.S. market.
The chairman said the standard waist measurement for Turkish men was 130-155 cm and such figures would be increased to 180-200 cm in line with the demands of the U.S. partner.
He said the belt would also be manufactured in various colors.
Coskun said that Suvari would manufacture nearly 100,000 belts for the U.S. market this year and start delivering the goods in April.
"Entering the U.S. market is a beginning for us. We would like to promote other innovative products of ours and expand our market share," he said.
In addition to the beep-free belt, Suvari has various innovative products such as flexible trousers and belts, and shirts with different sleeve and collar sizes.
