AZERBAIJANI DELEGATION ATTENDS UPU 24 CONGRESS
representatives from 191 countries.
During the event, Azerbaijan has been elected for the second 4-year term as a member of the UPU's Council of Administration. The country will be represented in the UPUExploitation Council for the first time.
Azerbaijan and Russia were the only CIS countries to be elected as members of theseorganizations.
Azerbaijani delegation submitted a statement about the situation of post services in the Azerbaijani lands occupied by Armenian aggressors. The statement demanded toprevent the release illegal stamps by the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic".
During the visit, Ali Abbasov met with UPU General Director Eduard Dayan anddiscussed the prospects for Azerbaijan-UPU cooperation.
Minister Ali Abbasov also met with Director of the ITU's Radiocommunication BureauValery Timofeev.
The 25th UPU congress will held in Qatar in 2012.
