Exhibitors Rank Doha Jewellery And Watch Expo Among Best

Doha, February 15 (QNA) - A high proportion of exclusive Qatari clients, connoisseurs and collectors of designer watches and jewellery besides its decor and ambience ranks Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) among the best, representatives of premium global brands said.
Cartier Middle East and India Managing Director Louis Ferla, told Qatar News Agency (QNA), "Cartier is proud to particiapte in DJWE since Qatar is a connoisseurs' market. Collectors here are well-informed and value exclusive creations of jewellery. The buyers here are mature and that's why Cartier showcases its exceptional line-up of high jewellery, some of which are unveiled for the first time in the region."
HE Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Jabor Al Thani, who Monday opened DJWE's eighth edition named 'Pure Luxury' at the Doha Exhibition Centre in the presence of dignitaries and senior executives from top brands, retailers and collectors, was escorted on a tour of the aesthetically designed pavilions where he was received by senior exhibitors and briefed by them on their brand's latest creations.
Celebrated international brands like Adler, Breitling, Bvlgari, Chanel, Chaumet, deLaCour, Fendi, Graff Diamonds, Gucci, Hublot, Longines, Nina Ricci, Patek Philippe, Raymond Weil, Swissdiam, Tudor, Versace and Zendirini among others are showcased by 300 exhibitors.
Reaffirming Qatar's increasing global profile as a niche expo centre, Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe's representative said, "Qatar market is important since it has buyers and collectors, not speculators or people who buy to resell later."
Qatar has the highest proportion of exclusive clients per 100 purchasers in the world added the representative of the brand which ranks amongst the best in watches with complicated mechanical movements.
Concurring with this view Bahrain-based Al Zain Jewellery's Brand Manager Yousif Al Ghawas said, "Qatar is a niche market and we are honoured to participate in DJWE since its a platform for high-end jewellery designers. This exhibition is significant for our group since we will be shortly opening our first showroom in Qatar at the Lagoona Mall in April."
Al Zain's move to open an outlet here reiterates Qatar success in establishing itself a major world venue for showcasing elite brands ahead of two key jewellery and watches expos in Switzerland - the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva and Baselworld in Basel.
Small wonder, Cartier is presenting for the first time in the region, the historic '141.13 carat graved emerald' which was first designed and showcased by the jeweller at the 1925 Exposition des Arts d'coratifs et industriels modernes, in Paris.
"Qatar has demonstrated and proved a notable success when it comes to its organization, size and bringing a large group of recognized international watches and jewellery brands, comparing to SIHH or Baselworld. And we are proud to say that the DJWE it is one of the region's largest events of its kind. Cartier is pleased to participate and be present in Qatar through DJWE," said Ferla.
Besides Cartier, another French brand adding sparkle to this year's show is Repossi which is displaying a 22.6mm long pearl, the world's second biggest, and a 265-carat pearl.
Repossi President Alberto Repossi was quoted in expo publication as saying, "DJWE is an excellent platform to showcase our jewellery to a regional audience that is very jewellery-savvy."
Hong Kong's Kowloon-based representative of a diamond jewellery manufacturer Jignesh Sanghavi who is visiting Qatar for the first time said, "It's an assembly of exclusive brands in a setting that truly matches the best. DJWE has the potential to expand further in the future."
The opinions of expo participants suggest DJWE is firmly on the road towards evolving into a preferred venue for product launches of global jewellery and watch brands.
