China hopes for closer cooperation with Kazakhstan - spokesman.
BEIJING, February 15 (Itar-Tass) -- China hopes the oncoming visit by Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev will encourage practical
cooperation between the two countries, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said on Tuesday.
The Kazakh president will visit China on February 21 through 23 at an invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao. The two leaders "will hold
talks on closer bilateral relations, discuss cooperation between the two
countries in various spheres, exchange views on international and regional problems," the spokesman told a briefing. He also said the Kazakh leader was expected to hold talks with the head of parliament, Wu Bangguo and premier Wen Jiabao. The visit is expected to be crowned by a number of cooperation agreements.
"We hope the visit will promote political confidence in the relations between the two countries, and encourage both practical bilateral cooperation and strategic partnership relations between China and Kazakhstan," the spokesman stressed.
