Thai air force F16 crashes in Chaiyaphum

BANGKOK, Feb 14 (TNA) - Two Royal Thai Air Force F16 fighters collided mid-air and crashed on a mountain in Thailand's northeastern Chaiyaphum Province Monday morning (Feb 14), but the fighters' two pilots reportedly ejected out of the jets in time to safety.
The two F16 fighters were taking part in the Cobra Gold drill, a joint annual military exercise between Thailand and the United States.
Authorities concerned have been trying to locate and recue the two pilots from the scene. A Royal Thai Air Force spokesman Monthol Satchanukorn said that the two F16 fighters disappeared from the radar screen at around 10:20 am. They were among four Thai F16 jets from the Wing Command 1 in Nakhon Ratchasima Province--which joined the Cobra Gold exercise. An official investigation on the crash is continuing. (TNA)
