CHAIRMAN OF CAUCASIAN MUSLIMS OFFICE MEETS AJC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DAVID A. HARRIS
Baku, 16 AUGUST,(AzerTAj)Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office SheikhulIslam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade met Friday with visiting delegation headed by American Jewish Committee (AJC) Executive Director David A. Harris.
Allahshukur Pashazade spoke of mutual respect and co-existence among various religious confessions in Azerbaijan. According to him, churches and synagogues along with mosques are being built in the country. He stressed religious tolerance hadalways existed in Azerbaijan.
Pashazade also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He said Armenians who have occupied Azerbaijani territories make every effort topresent the dispute to the world community as a religious confrontation.
David A. Harris, in his turn, praised religious tolerance and peaceful religiouscoexistence in Azerbaijan.
He expressed satisfaction with conditions created for Jewish community in the country.
