Kazakh ruling party sets up headquarters to support Nazarbayev
ASTANA (Itar-Tass) - The People's Democratic Party (PDP)
Nur Otan, which nominated its chairman, President Nursultan Nazarbayev as
its candidate at the early presidential elections due to be held on April
3, has set up a republican headquarters, PDP first deputy chairman Nurlan
Nigmatullin said in Astana on Saturday. According to the party's decision,
Nigmatullin headed the headquarters.
The main task of the headquarters is to render all-round support to
candidate Nazarbayev and its electoral campaign, as well as hold events
for clarifying his electoral platform.
Nigmatullin said that "the headquarters include authoritative people
of the country - - representatives of political parties, non-governmental
organizations and public unions - - members of the nationwide coalition of
democratic forces 'Kazakhstan-2020,' as well as prominent representatives
of the Kazakh public."
Nigmatullin also said that similar public headquarters were being set
up in all regions, cities and districts of the country. "Our priority task
today is to collect signatures in support of our candidate," he added.
