No house dissolution in Feb, says Thai PM

BANGKOK, Feb 12 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva dismissed Saturday (Feb 12) speculative reports that he may announce a dissolution of Thailand's House of Representatives by February 18 to pave the way for an early general election.

The Thai premier said that his government is to continue working for the nation and the public, including solving pending national problems and pushing forward key policies.

Regarding unsettled border issues between Thailand and neighbouring Cambodia, Abhisit revealed that his government welcome a proposal raised by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to help facilitate bilateral talks between Bangkok and Phnom Penh to peacefully end the border rows, and that the Thai government also welcomes any similar assistance by all other organizations or countries.

The Thai Democrat premier insisted, however, that the border problems between Thailand and Cambodia are to be settled by bilateral negotiations. (TNA)
