Pakistani defence analyst calls for strong Iran-Pak ties

Islamabad, Feb 12, IRNA – A senior Pakistani defence analyst has said that strong bilateral relationship between Iran and Pakistan is vital for the stability of the region.

Talking to IRNA at the reception held to mark the 32nd anniversary of Islamic Revolution at Iranian embassy, former Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and defence analyst Lt General (Retd) Hamid Gul said that the ‘strategic linking of Pakistan with U.S. disturbs our relations with Iran’.

“America wants to spoil our relations with Iran”, he opined.

Hamid Gul expressing his views on the anniversary of Islamic Revolution termed the event as a great victory of Iranian nation.

'I congratulate people of Iran on the 32nd anniversary of the Revolution', he added.

“We are very happy to see that the Islamic Revolution is flourishing for past 32 years,” the analyst said.

Hamid Gul noted that Iran and Pakistan have a long history of cordial and friendly relations adding Iran is a respectful country and people of Pakistan have always given importance to its relations with Iran.

The analyst was of the view that people of both countries are very close mentally and they share the same sentiments for each other. He suggested that more has to be done to further strengthen Pak-Iran relationship./end
