Pakistani Minister for further promoting Pak-Iran ties

Islamabad, Feb 12, IRNA – Pakistani Minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs Babar Awan has stressed the need to further promote strong Iran-Pakistan bilateral ties.

Talking to IRNA at the reception to mark the 32nd anniversary of Islamic Revolution at Iranian embassy the minister said that “we have historic, brotherly, strategic, political, regional and cultural Islamic relationship with the great country of Iran”.

He was of the view that Pakistanis have lot of commonalities with the people of Iran adding that there is a special place in the hearts and the minds of Pakistani people for Iranian brethren and the leadership of Iran.

“I congratulate my Iranian brethren and sisters and their leadership on this auspicious occasion”, said the minister.

Babar Awan, expressing his views, said before looking into the present relationship between Iran and Pakistan ‘let us take a glimpse of the past when we Iran, Turkey and Afghanistan were there together’.

“This is the time and this is the call of the hour that we should go back to those relations and look into the future”, he added.

Babar Awan noted that ‘this government has special emphasis on Iran and the region and therefore we have signed a very important regional transmission line of gas with Iran and in the future I see that relations of the two countries would be further strengthened’.

He added that these relations would remain strong who so ever is in the government of Pakistan as people of Pakistan and Pakistani state has a special focus on Iran.

“This government has laid special emphasis on one thing which I must share with the people of Iran, that we believe in the regional cooperation more than any thing else and we value it because those who are living in one region and those living close to each other and those sharing border and values, their strong relationship should be the land mark for the future of this region”, said the minister./end
